Dr. Bulka is an environmental and molecular epidemiologist. Her research interests include the health effects of exposures to chemical pollutants such as heavy metals and perfluorinated substances, especially exposures that occur early in life (e.g., in utero, infancy, and childhood). Additional areas of interest include whether such exposures affect the immune system and infectious disease susceptibility, as well as whether environmental chemical exposures interact with dietary components, potentially informing nutritional strategies for mitigating toxicity.
