Biography

Dr. Alison Oberne began teaching in COPH in 2010. She teaches a variety of courses for the undergraduate programs and Health Promotion and Behavior Concentration (MPH). She is dedicated to skill building among her students so they can excel post-graduation. In the past few years, she has focused on program development, implementation, and evaluation. She presents teaching innovations at teaching conferences to promote pedagogical practices nationally. Dr. Oberne’s public health research interests encompass health literacy and other factors influencing health promotion and disease prevention among young adults and college students specifically. She is also interested in food insecurity among young adults and mechanisms to increase food access among this population. Currently, Dr. Oberne serves as the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, focusing on programmatic processes to support and engage undergraduate students at USF. She is also actively involved in the executive board for the Delta Omega National Public Health Honorary Society and the Association of Schools and Programs in Public Health Undergraduate Programs Network.
