In an effort to reduce loan debt, the financial wellness program will work directly with the USF Health Office of Financial Aid to implement Student Debt Letters. Debt letters will provide a realistic look at the possible monthly loan repayment amounts based on a student’s current borrowing history. Student debt letters have been proven to boost financial literacy, reduce blind borrowing, increase academic behavior, and avoid delinquency and defaulting on federal student loans.
Student Debt Letters will include:
- An estimate of the total amount of student loans taken out by the student
- Potential payoff for loans the student has taken out or range of the total payoff amount
