Biography
Dr. Wilson is a Reproductive and Perinatal Epidemiologist with over 20 years of experience in public health research and practice. Her public health career started at the Florida Department of Health, where she served as a Corrections Specialist managing contracts between the Bureau of HIV/AIDS and the Department of Corrections. From there she transitioned to the Bureau of Epidemiology where she worked as the Surveillance Section Epidemiologist providing guidance and technical support to the Epi programs in Florida’s 67 counties. Much of Dr. Wilson’s current work has focused on addressing maternal and child health outcomes in under-resourced areas. Her expertise is in community centered research and program evaluation as she is the lead evaluator for several community-based programs designed to improve health and wellness outcomes for families. In recognition of her community engaged work, she received the USF Women in Leadership & Philanthropy Kathleen Moore Faculty Excellence Award in 2021 and a Legacy Award at REACHUP, Inc.’s Affirming Fatherhood Conference in 2022. In 2025, she was also inducted into the 50 Hoops Legends, a nationwide group of like-minded individuals who are committed to research, clinical trial recruitment, and changing the trajectory of health outcomes.
