Biography
Dr. Luis F. Pieretti is the Director of the University of South Florida OSHA Training Institute and Education Center (OTIEC) and Director of the Sunshine Education & Research Center’s Continuing Education Program. He has a bachelor’s degree in biology from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, a master’s degree in industrial hygiene from the Medical Science Campus - University of Puerto Rico, and a doctoral degree in industrial hygiene from the University of South Florida. Dr. Pieretti is a member of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, American Industrial Hygiene Association, American Society of Safety Professionals, National Safety Council, National Hearing Conservation Association, Association of Occupational Health Professionals in Healthcare and the American Public Health Association. Dr. Pieretti is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) and a member of the Board of Scientific Counselors for the CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (2022-2025). Prior joining the faculty at USF in 2023, he practiced comprehensively in the field of industrial hygiene (exposure science) and occupational safety. He has over 15 years of working experience within the insurance and pharmaceutical industries as well as prior work experience with the USF OSHA Training Institute Education Center and USF SafetyFlorida 21(d) OSHA Consultation Program. Currently, he provides consulting services in his field.
