Fellowship Programs
Clinical Education
Fellows participate actively in caring for patients with infertility, reproductive endocrine and urologic disorders, urologic disorders, uterine fibroids, and endometriosis, in a collaborative environment. In January 2020, University of South Florida partnered with Shady Grove Fertility (SGF), a premier fertility and IVF organization. Fellows and patients benefit from this new affiliation, which combines clinical expertise with academic teaching. For more details on this relationship, please read the SGF announcement here.
The outpatient and advanced reproductive technology (ART) rotation of the fellows will occur at Shady Grove Fertility Tampa Bay (SGF) which is housed on the third floor of a three-story medical office building which contains imaging and an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) on the first floor, clinic area for multi-specialty physicians on the 2nd floor and clinic area for Maternal fetal medicine (MFM) practice on the third floor.
The SGF office opened in summer 2019 and has a brand-new state of the art facility with full-service embryology laboratory that is equipped with the latest technology that provides patients every advantage on their quest to conceive, including a HEPA-filtered clean ventilation systems, heated work stations that stimulate in vivo environment, anti-vibration tables, highly sophisticated inverted microscopes and advanced incubators.
The over 10,000 square foot space located in 5016 West Cypress Street Suite 302, Tampa FL 33607 has the following amenities:
- One MD office
- Three consultation rooms
- A fourth room with a circular table that can function as a consultation room, room for financial specialist to meet with patients, etc.
- Blood draw/phlebotomy area
- Four exam rooms
- Two exam rooms each with its own ultrasound (two ultrasounds total in the exam/monitoring area)
- Two other exam rooms without ultrasounds which are typically used for IUI procedures, endometrial biopsies, etc.
- Andrology Lab Area
- Endocrine Blood Analyzer
- Office space for the embryologists and andrologists
- Fully equipped embryology lab as described above
- Ambulatory Surgery Center with
- Procedure room with equipment to administer IV sedation, pass through window to embryology lab, where egg retrievals and hysteroscopies are performed
- Embryo transfer room with monitor for patients to see their embryo just before it is drawn up by embryologist into transfer catheter
- Third room with C-ARM to perform HSG procedures on site
- Three patient bays for pre-procedure and recovery post procedure
- Hysteroscopy equipment for diagnostic hysteroscopy as well as procedures such as polypectomy, division of Asherman, division of uterine septum, etc.
There are currently 4 Shady Grove locations in Tampa Bay area:
Westshore
Located in the new facility described above, this is the main clinical location. All egg retrieval and embryo transfers are performed at this location. This is also the site where Dr. Celso Silva sees his new and follow-up patients in clinic.
Wesley Chapel
This office is located within the Healing Plaza of AdventHealth, serving a popular suburb just North of the city. This is where you will work with Dr. Anthony Imudia in the clinic, seeing new and follow-up patients, performing ultrasounds, and intrauterine inseminations.
Brandon
Hop on the Expressway for a short ride to beautiful Brandon, where you will see patients with Dr. Shayne Plosker.
St Petersburg
Our newest office located within the Bayfront Medical Plaza, which is an easy drive via I-275. This is where you will see new and follow-up patients with Dr. Rachel Sprague.
Clinical Learning Sites
The Fibroid and Endometriosis Center
This specialized center serves as a regional referral center for women from the entire Southeast for evaluation and treatment of uterine fibroids and endometriosis. In our clinic, we see new referrals and follow-up patients, and even perform in-office hysteroscopy. Many of our patients will require surgery performed at Tampa General Hospital. In cases of deep infiltrating endometriosis, we have a collaborative relationship with USF Urology and Colorectal surgery teams.

Tampa General Hospital
This hospital conveniently located in downtown Tampa on Davis Island is right across the street from the University of South Florida South Tampa Center. This is where our inpatient surgeries are performed. The hospital is also home to the OB-GYN Residency program where there is high volume and diverse pathology, and you get to work with both residents and medical students.
Surgery
Fellows are exposed to a large number of in-and out-patient surgical opportunities, including robotic, laparoscopic, hysteroscopic, and open approaches. Office exposure includes new and follow-up patient evaluations, including performing office hysteroscopy and hysterosalpingography. Given our program is one of the designated ASRM-SRS Surgical Scholar Track programs, you are expected to be a part of this program and perform high volume advanced reproductive surgeries with both REI and MIGS faculties. At the end of your training, you will be provided an additional certificate of proficiency as part of this specialized ASRM-SRS program.
All fellow’s activity is supervised by one of our clinical faculty, with the intention of ensuring that fellows master the routine and fine points of all aspects of surgical and office procedures.
Research
Fellows also receive hands-on training in performing basic science, clinical, and translational research, and have access to a large collection of clinical patient data. The research curriculum and experience have sufficient flexibility to accommodate different levels of interest and expertise among individual fellows. Training and experience in basic science research is available in one of our laboratories at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
