Fellowship Programs
Clinical Education
The fellows' clinical education is divided into monthly rotations, including urogynecology, urology, colorectal surgery, research blocks, urodynamics/pelvic floor physical therapy, and elective blocks. Under the guidance of the supervising attending, the fellows learn how to manage and consult on routine and complex pelvic floor conditions. Fellows also have the opportunity to provide care to women with peripartum pelvic floor disorders and severe obstetric lacerations in our Pregnancy and Postpartum Pelvic Health Clinic, also known as the PPPHC. The fellows rotate in our pelvic floor physical therapy department to better counsel patients on the benefits of this conservative therapy. In addition, fellows work with gastroenterology to perform and interpret endoanal ultrasound and anorectal manometry. During the clinical rotations, the fellows participate in multidisciplinary procedures with minimally invasive gynecology, gynecologic oncology, and general and colorectal surgery.
In preparation for independent clinical practice, our fellows each build their own panel of patients through a weekly continuity clinic. They manage their office schedule with the support of a medical assistant and/or registered nurse. They perform the evaluation and management coding associated with each appointment. Fellows perform office procedures during continuity clinic and book surgical cases as well.
The fellows are exposed to a wide variety of office procedures, including cystoscopy, urethral bulking, peripheral nerve evaluation (PNE), posterior tibial nerve modulation (PTNM), intradetrusor botox, intralavator botox, and urodynamic studies.
The fellows graduate with proficiency in robotic, laparoscopic, transvaginal, and open surgical techniques. Our surgeries are performed at Tampa General Hospital, across the street from our patient and administrative offices located at the USF Health South Tampa Center.
Our fellows rotate at the following locations:
Tampa General Hospital USF Health South Tampa Center Clinic
The URPS, Urology, Colorectal, and GYN ultrasound clinics provide a convenient setting for the fellows’ clinical and educational experience. Specialists in URPS, Urology, Gynecologic Oncology, and General OB/GYN practice in close proximity. This close relationship facilitates performance of clinical research by concentrating potential subjects and research personnel in the same location. On the URPS rotation, in clinic and surgery, our fellows learn how to do urodynamics, cystoscopy, robotics training, and pelvic floor physical therapy.
