  • Do you take visiting or shadowing non-medical students?

    • Due to the high density of USF learners, we are unable to take undergraduate and visiting students for shadowing. Please check back in to this website periodically for changes to this policy.

    Do you have any resources for pre-medical student shadowing opportunities?

  • I am a medical student and want to know more about the USF OB/GYN Residency Program. Where can I get more information?

    I am a USF medical student and want to get involved with USF OB/GYN research. Who can I contact?

    • You can directly contact primary investigators via their institutional emails or contact the USF MCOM RISE office.

    I'm a current medical student at USF and am interested in shadowing opportunities with your department. Who should I contact?

    • The OBGYN Interest Group at USF helps to coordinate shadowing experiences during specific breaks within the academic year. Contact information for the group is available on the Bulls Connect website under "OBIG."
  • I am a fourth-year medical student. Can I apply for a visiting rotation?

    • Please apply through the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities “VSLO” website. Our committee will review all applications for the limited spaces we have available after accommodating our institutional learners. If accepted for a position, we will contact you.

    What rotations can I do during a visiting medical student rotation?

    • The visiting Acting Internship rotation consists of 4 weeks: one week of L&D Days, one week of L&D Nights, and two weeks of one subspecialty elective (MFM, UROGYN, GYN ONC, REI, or Family Planning). The rotation will take place primarily at Tampa General Hospital.

    The USF dates on VSLO are different from my home institution dates. May I still apply?

    • Yes. However, if you get accepted, you must rotate for the dates that you were accepted. 

    I applied through VSLO. How soon can I hear back?

    • Thank you for submitting your application. We kindly ask for your patience as we thoroughly review it. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
  • What is the application process?

    • Program will follow national guidelines for interview scheduling.
    • Applicants should apply through ERAS.
    • Interview invitations will be sent via Thalamus.
    • All interviews will be held virtually.

    What criteria are required to apply for residency?

    • Must have graduated medical school within the past 5 years.
    • No US clinical experience is required.
    • USF can sponsor J1 visas.
    • No set minimum USMLE scores, however, the program typically invites applicants with scores of 230 and above.
    • International medical graduates must be ECFMG certified.
    • Must meet all requirements for Florida Board of Medicine licensure.

    Miscellaneous

    • We are unable to give out contact information for current residents. Questions should be sent to the program manager.
    • The residency office is unable to provide information regarding visiting students' rotations.
    • We are unable to accept requests for observer ships currently.
