Fellowship Programs
Clinical Experience
Clinical Education
The strengths of this program include the large clinical volume that encompasses the full spectrum of maternal and fetal diagnosis and management. The referral base includes the physicians and hospitals within the greater Tampa Bay area and extends throughout most of the central western Florida region. Our hospital partner is Tampa General Hospital which is a nationally ranked center for multiple medical subspecialties. There is a tertiary care labor and delivery suite, an 82-bed level IV NICU, and a level I trauma center. Tampa General Hospital serves as the academic medical center for the Greater Tampa Bay area, which has a population of 2.5 million people.
The fellows' clinical experience will allow them to provide care and consultative services regarding pregnancy-specific complications, maternal pre-existing medical conditions, fetal diagnosis, and fetal therapy. Upon completion of their diverse and enriched experience, the fellows will be equipped to provide care and consultative services within the field of MFM.
Facilities
Tampa General Hospital is the primary teaching hospital and houses an obstetric comprehensive women's center that opened in 2007. This is a 1000-bed private/public hospital. The department has 60 postpartum beds, 21 Labor-Delivery Rooms, 13 triage rooms, 4 dedicated labor and delivery operating rooms. In this unit, we perform approximately 7000 deliveries a year.
In 1991, the department opened a new 24,000-square-foot comprehensive women's ambulatory health center called "Genesis Women's Center". This large facility has 30 exam rooms, a fetal testing area with ultrasound and non-stress testing equipment, classrooms, and offices.
The OBGYN Department has 20,000 square feet of academic space for offices, teaching rooms, and clinical areas. The USF College of Medicine and Tampa General Hospital libraries have more than 83,000 bound volumes and more than 1,400 journals available.
