Didactics & Other Educational Opportunities

The program has an Academic Half Day weekly on Tuesday-afternoons. There are didactic, interactive and board review conferences and all residents in the program attend. Their clinical work is covered by faculty during the session. Academic Half Day usually start  with a resident meeting and lunch. There is a virtual option for those that can't come in person. Both hospitals have a daily morning report and intermittent noon conferences on some days of the week. Topics for didactics are specialty-specific for the month and are given cyclically. There is a weekly resident case presentation, a monthly interactive cost effective case presentation, and a board review curriculum. Grand Rounds is held weekly at both hospitals. In addition there is an EBM and QI curriculum that is used during didactic education.

We use several online educational modules including a primary care curriculum, resident learning center modules, and several board review platforms (Med Study and AMBOSS). We also use our own program, BOOST, to assist residents in their self-directed learning. In addition, Questions from a pediatric question bank are sent to all residents monthly, encouraging friendly competition while learning.
