Pediatrics Residency
Program Director Welcome
Welcome to the USF Pediatric Residency Program
We are so excited that you are interested in pursuing a career in pediatrics! USF Pediatrics offers outstanding faculty, research opportunities, advocacy experiences and the benefits of working at two hospitals including Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg and Tampa General Hospital in Tampa. Training at both our freestanding children's hospital and our large urban academic hospital gives you broad clinical experiences and exposes you to a diverse pediatric population. Additionally, we have an extensive array of outpatient clinical opportunities at many sites throughout Tampa Bay. Our program is committed to providing a strong foundation in pediatrics that is individualized to your needs and will prepare you for any career from primary care to hospitalist medicine and all the subspecialties.
You will work in a supportive environment with a balanced array of clinical responsibilities and educational opportunities, as well as opportunities for leadership and advocacy throughout your training. Resident education is the primary focus of our program, with didactic conferences including morning report, ER and PICU conferences, evidence-based medicine journal clubs, and a variety of board review sessions. We have an Academic Half Day (AHD) for all residents held one afternoon per week. We have multiple opportunities to work in community settings in addition to the hospital. We offer a robust wellness program and the opportunity to get a certificate in the College of Public Health. Our residents are extremely well trained to enter the fellowship of their choice or a primary care/hospitalist job.
Tampa Bay is an exciting, diverse community with a cosmopolitan yet relaxed feel. We have many top museums, gorgeous beaches, amazing restaurants, numerous professional sports teams and outstanding theater and musical venues. We invite you to learn more about us through the website and encourage you to visit us and meet the residents, faculty and staff that make our program wonderful.
