Hematology and Coagulation Disorders

The Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at USF provides inpatient and outpatient care for a variety of blood disorders that affect the different components of the blood. These include disorders of too many or too few red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, blood clotting proteins and their function. These problems can lead to anemia, infections, bleeding or abnormal clotting. 


Blood disorders that we treat include:

  • Anemia
  • Alpha and Beta Thalassemia
  • Aplastic Anemia
  • Bleeding disorders such as Von Willebrand Disease
  • Disorders of iron metabolism
  • Hemoglobinopathies/Hemoglobin disorders
  • Hemophilia 
  • Histiocytosis 
  • Immune Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP)
  • Iron deficiency anemia
  • Lymphadenopathy
  • Neutropenia
  • Sickle Cell Disease
  • Spherocytosis
  • Thrombosis disorders such as Factor V Leiden
