The nine Collegia seals

Collegia President

Hello! I was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, and I completed my undergraduate in Biochemistry at the University of Missouri (MIZ!). I am interested in plastic surgery as a future specialty. In my free time, I enjoy working out and running, watching sports (St. Louis and Mizzou teams), golfing, and trying new foods! I always make sure to spend as much time possible enjoying the warm Florida weather! I am very excited to meet all the first years and look forward to a great year of fun events.

Collegia Director

Hello! I am a SELECT student from Elizabeth City, North Carolina who graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with degrees in Biochemistry and Music. I love to sing and am currently interested in Otolaryngology, in part due to the prospect of working with patients who have voice issues! I also love to run, lift, cook, and play pickleball

Collegia Events Director

I am a CORE MSII student originally from Wesley Chapel, Florida and I am glad to be back in Tampa after attending the University of Florida with a Chemistry major. I am currently interested in Surgery as a specialty, but I have not chosen a specific field. Outside of MCOM I am a big fan of the Florida heat and love spending time outdoors. My favorite hobbies are fishing, going to a Rays game, or hanging out on the beach. I look forward to planning events for the upcoming year and especially the Collegia Olympics.

Collegia Treasurer

I am a SELECT student from Burlington, Iowa. I played Division I soccer at Illinois State University where I graduated with a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I'm involved in Plastic Surgery Interest Group, Otolaryngology Interest Group, and Women Building Women. I love running and workout classes, cooking up a new recipe, and finding new coffee shops around Tampa!

Chair, Bourne

Hi everybody; my name is Anna Kate (or AK for short)! I am originally from South Carolina, but I've been in Tampa for around 9 years. I got my B.S. in Biomedical Sciences and my B.A. in Psychology from the USF Judy Genshaft Honors College in 2023. For specialty interest, I have always been in love with pediatrics (and possibly subspecializing in neurology, cardiology, or endocrinology). In terms of what I do outside of MCOM, I love to workout (both weightlifting and yoga/cycling) and eat out with friends. I'm SO excited for this year, and as always, GO BOURNE (and bulls)!

Chair, Debakey

I grew up in San Diego and graduated from the University of Southern California with a major in Neuroscience and a minor in Health Care Studies. At USF, I'm involved in the Orthopedic Surgery Interest Group, RJOS, Project World Health, and BRIDGE clinic. In my free time, I enjoy running on Bayshore, going to workout classes, and trying new food!

Chair, Farmer

Hey everybody! My name is Thomas Halflants, and I am an MS2 in CORE from Sarasota, FL. I majored in psychology at UF and continue to explore my interest in mental health by volunteering with the Alachua County Crisis Center, training others to answer suicide hotline and crisis calls. I spent a year as a medical assistant at a pediatrics clinic before beginning medical school and remain interested in a career of caring for kids. Outside of school, I enjoy running, following UF sports and spoiling my cats, Pumpkin and Sprite.

Chair, Galen

Hello, my name is Yoana Ivanova and I am a current MSII CORE student at Morsani. I was born in Bulgaria but moved to the United States when I was 1, where I was raised in St. Louis, MO. I completed my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at Northwestern University in 2021. I spent two years scribing in the emergency room and in an oncology clinic before starting medical school. In my free time, I enjoy pilates and trying new places to eat.

Chair, Hippocrates

Hi there everyone! I grew up here in Tampa, and majored in sociology and cell and molecular biology at USF (go bulls). Currently, I'm involved in breast cancer health disparities research at Moffitt and I'm the volunteer coordinator for MCOM's chapter of the Christian Medical and Dental Association. In my free time I love playing trivia with friends, going for very slow runs, picnicking, adding things to my online shopping cart but never actually buying them, reading, and going to Sonic for an ice-cold cherry limeade.

Chair, Koch

Hi, I'm an MS2 in CORE from Jacksonville, Florida. I graduated from USF with a B.S. degree in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Economics. I am very open-minded and always excited to try new things or learn different perspectives. I love traveling, cooking, exploring, and playing sports. I was also a competitive figure skater before but now just skate mostly for fun. I am hoping in the future to learn more about music and dance, as well as get back into playing piano like I used to. I look forward to meeting all the incoming first years and bringing the Collegia trophy home to Koch.

Chair, Lower

Hi! My name is Esaan Azizi, and I am from Fort Myers, FL. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2022 with my degree in Microbiology and Cell Sciences. I represent Lower, and I am very excited to help welcome all the new student this year. In my free time, I enjoy working out, hanging with friends, water sports and getting sun. My favorite study spots around town are the Capital One Cafe in Hyde Park and DI Coffee on Davis Island. My big focus is self-care and prioritizing mental and physical health while getting everything done. Feel free to reach out with any questions/concerns, or if you need a friend and want to talk!
