We encourage students to continue participation in USF student organizations and student government and support the use of video-teleconferencing to facilitate participation in these groups. A wide variety of USF student interest groups and organizations are available for participation.

The Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society is a national society that was initiated in 1902 and celebrates the scholastic achievements of medical students as well as Alumni and faculty who have distinguished themselves in their professional careers.
Membership in AΩA may be attained as a medical student, resident, fellow, faculty member, alumni, clinician, or distinguished leader in medicine. Each school may elect up to 20% of the graduating class of students, up to 25 residents/fellows, up to 10 faculty, and three to five alumni, who, based on merit, demonstrate the characteristics of excellent physicians in alignment with AΩA’s mission and values.
The characteristics of excellent physicianship will be identified by each school; examples include trustworthiness, character, caring, knowledge, scholarship, proficiency in the doctor-patient relationship, leadership, compassion, empathy, altruism, and servant leadership. Nominees must be in good academic standing and must not have any professionalism concerns. For more information about AOA, please visit alphaomega.org!
The Gold Humanism Honor Society is a national society that was initiated in 2002 and supported by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation; for more information about the Gold Foundation please click here. Those selected demonstrate outstanding care and compassion for others. The students, faculty, and residents inducted are regarded as compassionate leaders, role models in patient-centered care for other students, residents, and physicians, and viewed as change agents in medicine.
Those eligible are medical students in their 4th year, residents, and role-model physician teachers. Approximately 16 to 20 percent of the graduating class are elected. There is a peer nomination process that has been externally validated and is based on criteria designed to identify students recognized by their peers as demonstrating exceptional humanistic characteristics.

The Robert A. Good Honor Society (RGHS) was initiated at USF in 2017 and seeks to recognize medical students, faculty, and alumni who have demonstrated exemplary commitment to improving health outcomes through research, innovation, and scholarly endeavors. Potential applicants must be in good academic and professional standing reflecting the highest ideals of the profession of medicine.
Students who fulfill the application criteria are encouraged to self-nominate by completing an online application, providing a CV, a personal statement and one letter of support. Membership is competitive with anticipated maximum inductees no greater than 20% of a given graduating class.
