Center for Applied Lifestyle Medicine

The Center for Applied Lifestyle Medicine (CALM) advances community-engaged lifestyle medicine to prevent and manage chronic disease. CALM promotes evidence-based approaches, including nutrition, physical activity, and stress management, to improve health outcomes, particularly in low-income and underserved populations.

Center for Global Health and Inter-Disciplinary Research

Advancing the control and elimination of vector-borne and infectious diseases, the Center for Global Health and Inter-Disciplinary Research (GHIDR) leads translational research to improve diagnostics, treatments, and prevention. With over $42 million in funding, the Center fosters cross-sector collaborations and global partnerships to develop practical solutions to pressing public health challenges.

The Center for Leadership in Public Health Practice (CLPHP) strengthens the public health workforce through leadership training programs that integrate systems thinking and experiential learning. Its initiatives, spanning Florida and beyond, prepare health professionals to lead change in complex, real-world environments.

The Harrell Center translates research into practice to strengthen community responses to family violence. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, education, and advocacy, the Center works to understand, prevent, and address family violence in all its forms.

The Chiles Center integrates evidence-based research, education, practice, and service to advance public policy that supports the health and well-being of mothers, children, families, and communities locally and globally.

Sunshine Education and Research Center

Funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the Sunshine Education and Research Center (ERC) promotes graduate training and research in occupational health and safety. As one of only 18 NIOSH-funded centers nationwide, it prepares professionals to address workplace health risks and prevent occupational injuries and illnesses.

USF Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Education, Science and Practice

Designated by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, this Center is one of 13 in the U.S. leading graduate training and research in maternal and child health. It prepares professionals across disciplines to address health and safety challenges affecting women, children, and families.

Activist Lab

The Activist Lab equips students with the advocacy, leadership, and research skills needed to drive public health change. Through training, community engagement, and hands-on learning, students develop applied practice experiences that prepare them for impactful careers.

Entourage Lab

The Entourage Lab studies how networks of family, friends, and communities support pregnant people and new mothers, reducing maternal stress, injury, and mortality. Researchers draw from medical anthropology, epidemiology, and public health to investigate the cultural, political, and economic dimensions of maternal care.

Salud Latina

Salud Latina USF is a public health initiative dedicated to outreach, education, research, and student mentorship. Through faculty-led research and community engagement, it addresses health disparities impacting Latino communities locally and globally.

Together After Cancer

Together After Cancer is a research initiative supporting Latina breast cancer survivors and their partners. Through tailored programs, it provides tools to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and enhance emotional and physical well-being after cancer.

USF Panama Program

Located in the City of Knowledge in Panama, this program offers public health students opportunities to engage in study abroad courses, academic collaborations, and hands-on learning. Students can pursue independent research, experiential learning projects, theses, and dissertations. Community and population-based experiences are available to students from a variety of disciplines.
