Biography

As the first genomics lab at the University of South Florida, the Rays Jiang Lab plays a pioneering role in advancing data-driven life sciences and pushing the frontiers of integrative genomics. Her lab develops innovative methods and applications of omics technologies that bridge computational biology and experimental sciences. Her research has been published in high-profile journals including Cell, Science, Nature, Nature Genetics, Nature Microbiology, and Nature Communications, and has been supported by funding from the NIH, NSF, NOAA, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Her work has also received international media coverage from BBC, NPR, The Guardian, The Independent, Newsweek, Discovery Magazine, Business Standard, and The Economic Times. Rays Jiang received her PhD in genomics from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and previously served as a computational biologist at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard University. She joined USF with the vision of establishing one of the university’s first hybrid laboratories integrating computational biology with experimental research, and her lab embraces the spirit of interdisciplinarity, innovation, and inclusivity. She has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate, an honor awarded to researchers ranking in the top 1% worldwide by citations in their field according to Web of Science.
