COBRA
The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) gives workers and their families who lose their health benefits the right to choose to continue group health benefits provided by their group health plan for 18 months under certain circumstances such as job loss, transition between jobs, and other life events.

Temporary Employee Retirement Pan (TERP)
USF Residents/Fellows are automatically enrolled into the Temporary Employee Retirement Plan (TERP). TERP is a defined contribution plan authorized under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. Valic, Inc. is the plan administrator for the University of South Florida. 7.5% of pretax wages will be taken biweekly with each pay period.Find out more about the Temporary Employment Retirement Plan.

Individual Disability Insurance Offer
USF has partnered with The Standard and Muniz and Associates to offer USF residents and fellows access to individual own-occupation disability insurance policies at discounted rates. These policies cover you in your medical specialty and DO NOT require medical exams/questionnaires which guarantees that USF housestaff have access to a disability policy.
These policies can better protect your income during training but are portable and can be adjusted throughout the different stages of your career.
