The adrenal glands perform an array of
tasks, from helping us respond to emotional and physical stressors to
regulating blood pressure. They also balance our metabolic system by managing
the way our body reacts to infections, allergies and lack of sleep. Hormones
produced by the adrenal glands include cortisol, aldosterone, adrenaline and
norepinephrine. A deficiency or excess of these hormones can be
associated with an array of conditions and complications, including:
- Addison’s
disease
- Adrenal cancer
- Congenital adrenal hyperplasia
- Conn’s syndrome
- Cushing’s syndrome
- Pheochromocytoma
At the USF Diabetes and Endocrinology
Center, our specialists treat adrenal disorders that are often hard to diagnose.
Our board certified endocrinologists take a multidisciplinary approach in
addressing the needs of every patient and customizing each treatment plan.
