Infection Control for Emergency Responders

Infection Control for Emergency Responders

The purpose of this project is to develop a multi-modal approach to deliver infection control and prevention education to emergency responders (emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and firefighters).  A multi-disciplinary project team will contribute to program planning, determination of delivery methods, and evaluation, based on information collected from a needs assessment conducted with both field and administrative representatives from EMS and the fire service. An Infection Control for Emergency Responders Resource Collaborative and Training Hub will be established to serve as the hub for recruitment, dissemination, referral, and subject matter consultation.

Education

As part of this project’s multi-modal approach, the COPH aims to create a new suite of educational materials and resources to deliver infection control and prevention education to emergency responders. Innovative IPC training will be located at the COPH Lifelong Learning Academy.
