Transplant & Hepatology Fellowship Program

Overview

Kawtar Al Khalloufi, MD

The Transplant Hepatology Fellowship training program at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, is a one-year program taken after completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Gastroenterology. We are an ACGME-accredited program focused on the care of patients with advanced liver disease and liver transplant recipients.

Fellows will rotate on the inpatient hepatology and transplant services as well as ambulatory clinics. Training follows the guidelines to meet the milestone and competency requirements set by ACGME, the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), and the United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS). Fellows actively participate in the hepatology educational activities including journal club, case conference, tumor board conference, pathology conference, multidisciplinary review board meetings and research projects.

The liver transplant program at TGH is the number one transplant program in Florida and top 5 in the nation by volume. The fellowship program will provide exposure to a variety of liver diseases, and will allow the fellows to closely work and interact with experts in hepatology, surgery, advanced endoscopy, interventional radiology, oncology and pathology.
