Workshops at the Byrd Institute
Workshops are conducted throughout the year at the Institute on topics pertaining to Alzheimer's disease and caregiver issues. In addition to health care and service providers, workshops are also conducted for first responders, faith-based groups, support group leaders and more. Customized workshops and educational programs
Customized workshops can be designed to meet the specific educational needs of your staff, organization or group. They can be conducted at the Byrd Institute in Tampa or at your location. Annual Summer Geriatric Health Care Conference
The annual summer conference is hosted near campus every June focusing on Alzheimer's disease and other related topics in geriatrics. Now in its 21st year, this conference is designed to provide health care professionals, long term care administrators, services providers and others in the field of aging with the most current and practical information on Alzheimer's disease, dementia and other related topics in aging. Continuing Education Credits available.
This year's conference, Excellence in Geriatric Health Care, will be held June 25th, 26th and 27th, 2019.
Continuing Education Credit
The Byrd Institute works with the USF Department of Continuing Professional Development, who provides the CEUs and uploads the hours to CE Broker.
USF is approved by the following organizations as an accredited provider of continuing education:
- Florida Board of Nursing
- Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling
- Florida Board of Nursing Home Administrators
- Florida Board of Occupational Therapy Florida Board of Psychology
Continuing education training and certificates of attendance are also provided for:

- Certified Nursing Assistants
- Professional Guardians
- Service providers
- Others in the field of aging (staff at Area Agencies on Aging, Department of Health, Department of Aging, adult day care centers, etc.)
