USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Center and Research Institute

Supporting the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer's Institute

The USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Center and Research Institute is more than a world-class research facility; it’s a center of hope for those impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders—both the patients and their families.

The institute brings together USF’s successful laboratory and clinical research programs which are dedicated to treating and preventing memory disorders.  Additional services are offered to help family members cope with the stressors of care giving; and educational programs are available to better train healthcare workers in this professional space.

Your support provides vital resources for Alzheimer's research, clinical activities, and caregiver education.

Current Areas in Need of Support

Clinical Trials
Mobile Memory Research Suite

One of the biggest obstacles for Alzheimer’s Clinical trials is patient retention. Specifically, access to the trials is challenged by transportation issues. Our mobile clinical trial unit dramatically improves retention by bringing the necessary personnel and equipment directly to participants in their respective communities at no cost to the participant. All fees associated with the operations of the mobile unit are supported by generous donors.

The USF Health Byrd Alzheimer's Institute is committed to helping caregivers throughout their journey by offering educational programs and hosting support group seminars. The Caregiver Education and Support Fund was established to ensure quality programs are offered to patients and their families at minimal expense to them.
