Toxicity Screening
During your eye exam, be certain to tell your doctor about any medications you are taking on a daily basis. Based on that information, your doctor may recommend a toxicity screening. A toxicity screening may also be necessary when an eye condition presents itself with no apparent cause. Although rare, daily medications taken over a period of time can have a direct impact on your vision. Drugs taken on a regular basis for a chronic condition, as well as over the counter medications and herbal supplements, can have a damaging effect on the eye over a long period of time. When a baseline eye exam is performed, a screening to detect any early damage is recommended in order to it keep it from getting worse.
