After an initial evaluation, patients may need an imaging procedure performed to help physicians determine a specific cardiac diagnosis. At USF Health, our cardiovascular team reviews findings to determine which, if any, cardiac procedures might be necessary or if new medications should be initiated.
At USF Health, our highly specialized cardiovascular imaging team provides patients with access to state-of-the-art imaging of the heart, arteries, and blood vessels, as well as expert diagnostic reporting. The USF imaging team is comprised of sonographers, nuclear and radiology technicians who maintain accreditation in their specific area of expertise including continuing education to ensure the most current techniques and applications in cardiac imaging are available to patients.
Our cardiologists have expertise in interpretation of cardiac imaging procedures including echocardiography, nuclear medicine, cardiac CT and MRI. A majority of physicians have completed training beyond what is required of a general cardiologist and are board certified or credentialed in their area of expertise through the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE), the Council for Certification in Cardiovascular Imaging (CCCVI), and the Society of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (SCMR).
Imaging facilities:
Below is a list of imaging procedures commonly performed at one of our many accredited facilities:
Facility Accreditation
The USF Imaging facilities provide the highest standards in imaging by maintaining accreditation with the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in echocardiography and nuclear medicine and the American College of Radiology (ACR) in MRI and CT. Accreditation by these bodies means that our facilities have undergone a thorough review of operation and technical components by a panel of experts. Accreditation is given to only those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed case review. This is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on to ensure our facility has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of Echocardiography, Nuclear Medicine, MRI and CT.
