Meet Dr. Anderson
Matthew L. Anderson, MD, PhD, FACOG
Dr. Anderson serves as Associate Director for Research Analytics & Shared Resources for the Tampa General Hospital Cancer Institute, where he founded and leads the TGH/USF Precision Medicine Biorepository (PMBioR). In addition, he represents USF as a Site PI and Program-wide Co-Investigator and a Member of the Executive Committee for the PCORI-funded OneFlorida+ Clinical Research Consortium.

Jun Cai, MD, PhD
Xiaofang Guo, MD
Dr. Guo is a dedicated cancer researcher in Dr. Anderson's lab, specializing in women's health with a focus on leiomyoma and endometrial cancer. Their work has led to significant contributions through publications in leading journals and presentations at international conferences. With a strong background in molecular biology and cancer research, Dr. Guo continues to advance the understanding of tumor biology and potential therapeutic strategies.
Begum Mathyk, MD
Dr. Mathyk is an ObGyn specializing in reproductive endocrinology and space biology. Trained in Türkiye and the USA, she has served as faculty in both and is now completing a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) at USF. She is actively involved in leading societies, including SREI, ASRM, and SRI. With expertise in space medicine, Dr. Mathyk has trained at NASA’s Johnson Space Center and Ames Research Center. She co-leads the women’s health team at AsMA, chairs NASA’s OSDR Female Reproduction Analysis Working Group, and contributed to the Space Omics paper in Nature. Recently, she performed the first gynecologic ultrasound in weightlessness. Passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration, she advances innovations in women’s health research.
Maya Yasukawa, MD, PhD
Dr. Yasukawa is a PGY-7 Fellow with a strong foundation in medicine, having earned her degree from Showa University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan. She completed her residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., where she honed her clinical expertise and commitment to patient care. As a dedicated fellow, Dr. Yasukawa continues to advance her skills and knowledge, contributing to the field with a passion for excellence in medical education and research.
Salah Komrokji, MPH
Salah Komrokji is a recent graduate of the University of South Florida who specializes in the use of bioinformatics and data analytics to better understand cancer trends and disparities. At Tampa General Hospital’s Cancer Institute, he is responsible for evaluating and visualizing large scale databases with the goal of not only supporting the rapidly growing institute's research and grant applications but also the development of novel clinical outreach programs. Through his work, he hopes to be able to help cancer patients receive the best treatment and equal care across the State of Florida.
