Tampa General Hospital

Tampa General Hospital has served as a primary teaching facility for USF's College of Medicine since 1971. West central Florida's only level 1 trauma center, TGH also serves as a specialty referral center for the region. The hospital recently completed an expansion that includes a new emergency department and increased bed capacity of approximately 1,000. Located on the waterfront in scenic downtown Tampa, TGH provides an ideal environment for resident training. The patient mix on general internal medicine wards is approximately 40% indigent and 60% funded (Medicare/Medicaid/Private insurance). Residents on average perform 40-50% of their inpatient wards and consult months at TGH.

James A Haley VA Hospital

James A. Haley Veterans Administration Hospital

Affiliated with the USF College of Medicine since its founding, the James A. Haley VA hospital has 327 acute care beds and the busiest outpatient clinic system of any VA facility in the country. The hospital serves as one of four polytrauma centers nationwide that care for service men and women who have sustained significant combat casualties. Located across the street from the main campus, the hospital has convenient access to all of the College of Medicine's facilities including clinics and main library. Residents on average perform 40-50% of their inpatient wards, consult months and ambulatory rotations at the VA.

H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute

Founded in 1986, the Moffitt Cancer Center has rapidly grown into one of the premier cancer treatment facilities in the country. A National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center that has been named one of the top ten cancer centers in the United States, Moffitt is on the cutting edge of cancer research and treatment. Boasting a diverse patient population, world-renowned faculty and superb clinical and research facilities, Moffitt offers a truly unique training environment. Residents on average will rotate through Moffitt 3-4 times during their residency on the inpatient heme ward, inpatient oncology ward, inpatient hospitalist medicine ward, ID or Pulmonary consults or the ambulatory hematology or oncology rotations.
