Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. We are a university-based program located in the beautiful Tampa Bay area.
Our mission is to develop our residents into physician-leaders who have a strong foundation in patient care and medical knowledge but are also skilled in teaching, scholarly activity, leadership, and quality improvement. We achieve this mission by providing diverse patient care environments and ensuring exposure to diverse pathology.
Our residents train at Tampa General Hospital, a tertiary referral center; Moffitt Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute designated hospital; and James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. Tampa General Hospital was recently ranked by US News and World Report in the top 50 nationally in 5 medical specialties, #1 in the Tampa Bay area, and #2 in Florida. Moffitt Cancer Center continues to rank in the top 10 Best Hospitals for Cancer in the US. In addition to our great training facilities, we provide a curriculum on the business of medicine, leadership, teaching, and quality improvement. We are very proud of our 4-year rolling board pass rate of 99%. Our residents will be adept physicians who provide high-value care, become self-learners, and become leaders in their chosen practice community.
Because our success is based on our residents’ success, our program has a resident-centered philosophy. Our residency is for our residents. The relationship between the administration, faculty, and residents is supportive. We understand and know our residents personally to help them become successful in their learning and career pathway. The residents also play an integral role in providing the program feedback on improvement. Our best improvements have come from resident feedback. I would encourage you to check out our resident testimonial videos at the top of this page.
Thank you for taking the time to review our program. If you are looking for a supportive program committed to your success, we welcome your application.
