Biography

Dr. Elimarys Perez-Colon was born and grew up in Puerto Rico. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from San Juan Bautista School of Medicine in Puerto Rico in 2009 and went on to complete her residency in Med-Peds at the University of South Florida, where she was named Chief Resident in 2012–2013. Dr. Perez-Colon is an associate professor and hospitalist, the Associate Program Director for USF Med-Peds residency, and the Chief of Medicine for Tampa General Hospital. Dr. Perez-Colon is passionate about educating residents and students. She has a particular interest in global health, disaster relief, and addressing health disparities. In addition to her work in medicine, Dr. Perez-Colon practices multiple forms of art and serves on the editorial board for Reflejos, our medical art and humanism magazine. She is also passionate about coaching and mentoring underrepresented minorities and promoting adequate work-life integration. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, photography, fashion, content creation for social media, dancing, and spending time with family.
