Recommendations and research should be based on strong scientific evidence, instead of one’s expert opinions. Choosing policies that on based on accurate and reliable information, aid in making decisions for your coalition. Evidence-based policies improve decision-making skills within a coalition or organization and inform successful health intervention implementation. In order to identify evidence-based policies, one should look for the following characteristics: 1) are based on quality qualitative or quantitative research, 2) identify elements that will be effective, and 3) have measurable outcomes to measure the impact of the policy. These characteristics can lead to identifying evidence-based policies that will lead to future policy developments by your very own coalition.
