Department of Radiology

Curriculum

The five-year diagnostic radiology residency program at USF is designed to provide residents with direct clinical participation in all aspects of diagnostic radiology with graduated levels of responsibility under the supervision of attending faculty physicians. During their first clinical year, residents spend ten months in internal medicine, and two months in diagnostic radiology. Beginning in their second year of training, residents initially review and interpret radiographic studies on their clinical rotations with all studies then subsequently reviewed by a faculty attending prior to dictating or finalizing the report. For interventional procedures, based on their level of training and competence, residents serve as the primary operators under the direct supervision of the attending physician. In addition to a broad clinical experience at USF's affiliated teaching facilities, the Department offers formal educational training in the form of case conferences and didactic lectures that cover the nine major subspecialties of diagnostic radiology as well as present a foundation for diagnostic radiology physics.
