Welcome from the Chair, Krishna Nallamshetty, MD, FACR
Dr. Krishna Nallamshetty is Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiology at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, with a dual faculty appointment in the Departments of Radiology and Cardiology. A fellowship-trained cardiovascular imaging specialist, he leads the department's clinical, educational, and research missions across an academic health system spanning five clinical sites — including Tampa General Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Center, two VA medical centers, and Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital.
Dr. Nallamshetty earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Tufts University School of Medicine / Baystate Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular imaging at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Radiology, with additional certification in Cardiovascular CT and Nuclear Cardiology.
As Chair, he oversees two residency and six fellowship programs training 48 residents and fellows, along with a research enterprise that includes 13 NIH-sponsored studies and more than 160 active clinical trials. At Tampa General Hospital, he directs the Enterprise Imaging Service Line and previously served as Chief of the Medical Staff, on the Tampa General Hospital Board of Directors, and as medical director of the institution's nationally recognized 3D anatomic printing program. A dedicated educator, he is a multi-year recipient of the USF Department of Radiology Outstanding Teaching Award.
A recognized authority in cardiac CT and MRI, Dr. Nallamshetty focuses on cardiovascular imaging, with more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and over 50 national scientific presentations. He holds regional and national leadership roles, including board member and councilor of the Florida Radiological Society within the American College of Radiology, and appointments to the RSNA National Quality Improvement Committee and the American Board of Radiology's Diagnostic Radiology Certifying Cardiac Exam Committee. He has also contributed to a CMS technical expert panel developing a national quality measure for CT radiation dose. His honors include election to the Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa honor societies, the RSNA Roentgen Research Award, and the ABR Volunteer Service Award. He is a member of the Association of University Radiologists and the Society of Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments.
