While I miss my family, who all live in Washington State, I am excited to be moving to Tampa, Florida and starting residency with my fiancé, who is a part of the USF Internal Medicine program. The area has a special place in our hearts since we got engaged at Indian Rocks Beach (technically St. Petersburg). We fell in love with Tampa and all that the city could offer us outside of the hospital. I chose USF because of the camaraderie I saw between the residents and staff. During the interview day, I got the sense that I would thrive from the support. In my free time, I love to try new restaurants with my fiancé, play soccer, run outside on the Riverwalk, and play League of Legends. I also enjoy spending time with my potty-trained bunny named Stinky

Why Neurology/USF?: I find neurology to be the most academically interesting subject, and I am excited to be in a field that has ever-expanding research. We learn more about the brain and our nervous system every day, so it is an especially exciting time to be a neurologist. We deal with a lot of life-long conditions, and it is an honor and a privilege to be able to help patients improve their quality of life, especially with the wealth of resources that we now have, thanks to research!

Even though I’ve been at USF since undergrad, I had a long interview trail from east coast to west coast. All of it just reinforced that USF and Tampa is where I wanted to continue my training. USF has the perfect combination of teaching hospitals and community sites that allows me to not only learn about the commonplace diagnoses and treatments, but also the unique and rare. Tampa is also a vibrant city full of incredible culture, and I am happy to continue calling it my home.

I am thrilled to be pursuing my residency in neurology where I grew up here in Tampa! Neurology has always been near and dear to my heart due to many of my family members having neurologic conditions. That said, being close to my family while going through residency was very important to me. I also knew I would be well-supported here by our amazing faculty and staff who would move mountains to help us reach our goals. It was so evident to me how close the residents are too and that was something I was looking for in a program. I honestly cannot say enough good things about my co-residents! When I am not at the hospital or clinic you can find me hanging out with my dachshund, going to Disney, trying all the new restaurants popping up in Tampa or running on Bayshore.
