MCOM Financial Assistance for PhD Students

MCOM PhD Financial Benefits  

Students admitted into the Medical Sciences PhD program will be offered a Graduate Research Assistantship, supported primarily from research grants held by individual faculty members. With this Assistantship, students receive: 

  • $37,000 annual stipend
  • 100% tuition waiver*
  • Medical insurance contribution
  • Consideration for travel awards 

 *Fees not included

Students are also eligible to apply for a variety of scholarships and fellowships as well as other types of financial aid. Additionally, the university offers numerous free resources and support services to help students with money management and understanding the various types of aid. 

An added benefit? Tampa’s cost of living is lower than the national average and one of the lowest of any metro-area in Florida.

The University of South Florida’s Medical Sciences PhD program is an integrated umbrella program that eliminates traditional barriers between disciplines and provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the biomedical sciences.
