Biography
Rene' Salazar holds an undergraduate degree in microbiology, and Masters and Doctorate degrees in Public Health from the University of South Florida College of Public Health. Dr. Salazar joined the faculty at the University of South Florida College of Public Health in 2010, and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses pertaining to environmental, occupational, and public health. Prior to joining the faculty at USF, Dr. Salazar served as an environmental and occupational health consultant for over eighteen years, and practiced comprehensively in the field of industrial hygiene as an American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). Dr. Salazar’s experiences focus on recognition, evaluation and control of exposures to chemical, physical, and biological agents, with primary emphasis pertaining to exposures to fungi and bacteria. Dr. Salazar has extensive experience with effectively communicating investigative outcomes and exposure prevention strategies to workplace and community groups. He has managed numerous projects involving exposure concerns affecting educational facilities, hospitals, municipalities, and other public, private, and community settings nationwide, and continues to offer his services in this regard.
