Biography

Dr. Jason Beckstead is an experimental psychologist with expertise in quantitative methods, measurement, and study design. He received his PhD from the State University of New York at Albany in 1990 and completed a post-doctoral research position at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1993 where he specialized in the development and application of experimental design and quantitative methods to social and behavioral research involving lighting. From January 1998 until May of 2017 he was an associate professor at the University of South Florida College of Nursing where he taught doctoral-level courses in statistics and quantitative methods. He is now an associate professor at the University of South Florida College of Public Health. Quantitative Expertise: Advanced Programming (data manipulation and analysis) in SPSS ANOVA and Linear Regression Logistic Regression Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis Multi-level Modeling using HLM and SPSS Structural Equation Modeling using LISREL Cluster Analysis Multidimensional Scaling Psychometrics and Measurement Theory Information Theory Research Interests and Expertise: Judgment and Decision Making Sequential Effects in Judgment and Learning Tasks Subjective Probability Perception of Randomness Disseminating quantitative methods throughout various research fields. He is also statistical editor for the top-ranked journal, International Journal of Nursing Studies.
