Biography

Dr. Smith is an Assistant Professor and licensed psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences. Dr. Smith is a PCIT Within Agency Trainer and Board Certified in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology. He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with psychiatric, behavioral, and medical challenges to promote psychological health and well-being. Dr. Smith earned a PhD from the University of South Florida. He completed his clinical child/pediatric internship at the University of Miami Mailman Center for Child Development and a two year pediatric psychology postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Dr. Smith’s research interests focus on evidence-based treatments to improve family functioning (e.g., PCIT) and their application to children with pediatric illness (e.g., Teaming Up to Support T1D Through Telehealth) and psychosocial factors contributing to youth quality of life.
