Grateful Patient Series: Dr. Alikhani & Cathy Kloesso
Cathy was involved in a hit and run accident that left her with a complex T7-8 fracture, spinal cord compression and kyphotic deformity. She was faced with the possibility of being paralyzed. Fortunately, thanks to Dr. Puya Alikhani
USF Health Neurosurgeon, and his team, Cathy can continue flying planes, skydiving and running marathons.
Center for Complex Spinal Disorders
The Center for Complex Spinal Disorders was founded by our department’s inaugural chairman, Dr. David Cahill, who was well known as a pioneer in modern spinal surgery. In this center our department spine specialists, including neurosurgeons, nurse practitioners, and chiropractors, treat a wide array of disorders and deformities including:
- Congenital deformities
- Degenerative disease
- Traumatic injury
- Spinal tumors
When appropriate, minimally invasive approaches are used to surgically treat these same conditions.
