The USF Health Headache Center is one of a very few academic headache centers in the country providing patients with headache and facial pain therapy. We treat patients with the latest technology including pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for complete care. Our dedicated team consists of neurologists specializing in headache and pain medicine, as well as a comprehensive interdisciplinary team that includes psychological intervention, neuromuscular re-education/biofeedback, physical therapy, occupational therapy and recreational therapy. In addition, we have dedicated register nurses, an ARNP/DNP, and research coordinator.
You might not realize it, but headaches are one of the most common complaints shared by patients. Depending on the severity and frequency of headaches and facial pain, they cause patients to miss work, school or other planned activities. According to the NIH (National Institutes of Health), headaches are a regularly cited reason for absenteeism.
Services available to our patients also include inpatient admissions to the CARF (Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) rehabilitation program at Tampa General Hospital, outpatient program, and infusion room dedicated to our established patients. Interventional procedures are also offered including nerve blocks, botulinum toxin injections and other procedural interventions.
