About the Center
Simulation Center
The USF College of Nursing (CON) Simulation Center directly supports the mission and college of nursing strategic plan with respect to the four areas of education, research, practice, and reputation. Through simulation, our students achieve technical and cognitive competencies and practice communication and clinical decision making in an experiential simulation-based interprofessional learning environment.
USF CON Mission: Employ the core values of excellence, innovation, inclusion, and respect to educate future nurses, advance nursing science, and implement evidence-based clinical practice to improve health and wellness.
Mission for CON Simulation Center: Transform nursing education and research using a culture of respect and reflection based on evidence-based simulation best practices to improve health and wellness.
USF CON Vision: Be the aspirational leader in nursing education, research, and practice.
Vision for the CON Simulation Center: Be the aspirational leader in nursing simulation education, research, and practice.
The USF College of Nursing Core Values (Respect, Integrity, Inclusion, Excellence, Innovation, Partnership) are incorporated into the CON Simulation Center.
Respect –Setting the tone for respectful learning in simulation prebriefing and debriefing
Integrity – Incorporating the SSH Code of Ethics
Inclusion – Encouraging collaboration, diversity, and simulations to promote understanding
Excellence – Following industry standards of best practice (SSH, INACSL, ASPE)
Innovation – Trailblazing and disseminating new technology and ideas
Partnership – Including stakeholders (clinical agencies, students, alumni, donors)
The USF College of Nursing Simulation Center is part of the USF Health Simulation Consortium, an interprofessional collaboration to provide quality learning experiences for all USF Health students. The USF Health Simulation Consortium is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare in Core plus four, which represents the categories of Assessment, Research, Teaching/Education, and Systems Integration.
The College of Nursing Simulation Center follows evidence based best practices in simulation operations, teaching, and research. The International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice™ (HSSOBP™) and the SSH Code of Ethics are incorporated into all simulation experiences.
