Biography
Dr. Aurora Kareh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, as well as faculty at the Center for Reconstructive Oncology at the Moffitt Cancer Center. Her clinical interests include comprehensive breast reconstruction, cancer-related lymphedema care, and sarcoma reconstruction with a focus on advanced microsurgical techniques. Dr. Kareh is passionate about helping cancer patients feel complete, both physically, through a patient-centered, empathetic approach. She understands that patients coping with a cancer diagnosis are going through one of the most challenging times of their lives. Her goal is always to work hand in hand with her patients in order to care for them as a whole and to develop a reconstructive plan that works best for them. As a reconstructive microsurgeon, Dr. Kareh practices the most advanced breast reconstruction techniques, with expertise in microsurgical free flap reconstruction (DIEP, muscle-sparing TRAM, SIEA, PAP, LAP), nipple-sparing reconstruction, implant-based reconstruction, and oncoplastic “breast-sparing” reconstruction. She is a member of Moffitt Cancer center’s comprehensive program in the surgical management of lymphedema, performing microsurgical procedures to treat cancer related lymphedema (immediate lymphatic reconstruction, delayed lymphovenous bypass, vascularized lymph node transfer, suction-assisted lipectomy). Dr. Kareh completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame and medical school at the University of Texas Health- San Antonio. She completed integrated Plastic Surgery residency at Saint Louis University and an additional year of reconstructive microsurgery fellowship at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, focusing on breast, lymphedema, and complex extremity reconstruction. She is fluent in Spanish.
