MCOM AANS Chapter Overview

USF Health Morsani College of Medicine is home to an ACGME-accredited Neurological Surgery Residency Program. Morsani College of Medicine students are able to work alongside faculty and residents to gain valuable experience in the field of neurosurgery and prepare for residency application.

American Association of Neurological Surgeons USF Morsani COM Medical Student Chapter

The AANS Morsani COM Student Chapter offers support to students who are considering a career in neurosurgery. Whether you are committed to the field of neurosurgery or just beginning to explore areas of interest, the AANS Chapter is an excellent opportunity to network with your peers and collaborate with members from the Department of Neurosurgery and Brain Repair. 

As of January 2021, AANS reports 3,803 medical student members, comprising 27.3% of total AANS Memberships.

    • No fee to join for chapter members

Other Ways to Get Involved

If you are currently a medical student at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine here are some specific suggestions to get started:

  • Join the USF Neurological Surgery Interest Group (NSIG). Updates and opportunities will be announced periodically through BullSync.
  • Contact your Career Adviser and share your interest in getting involved with Neurosurgery.
  • Get signed up for the Neurosurgery DCEII course early on. 
  • Find research opportunities by reaching out to the NSIG group and the RISE Office. 
  • Reach out to other MSII-IV students in the NSIG club or even the neurosurgery residents for additional advice.
  • Connect with Neurosurgery faculty and residents, they can offer guidance and insight into the field.
  • Contact the Neurosurgery department for access to grand rounds.
