PGY2 Residents

Class of 2029

Shirley Chua, DO

Why USF?

USF Neurology is the best fit for me both professionally and personally I was impressed by the strong clinical training, supportive faculty, and the welcoming culture I felt during my interview. Additionally, being close to home was really important, and having friends in Tampa has made the transition to residency so much smoother.

Favorite part of Neurology?

My favorite part of neurology is definitely the physical exam. It's really exciting how clues from the exam can help with localizing a lesion or narrow down a diagnosis.

Anna-Katherine Escoto, DO

Why USF?

While I was on rotation here, everyone I encountered was so friendly and helpful. The residents were inclusive, and I noticed that they all seemed to be friends instead of just co-workers. The culture was my biggest deciding factor in choosing USF.

Favorite part of Neurology?

My favorite part of Neurology is stroke service. I love the fast pace of stroke alerts, and that initial presentation can give you an idea of where a stroke might be occurring before you even see imaging. It's also satisfying to see improvement in a patient's symptoms after thrombolytics or intervention.
