Academic Philosophy

"The following Chinese proverb exemplifies my personal teaching philosophy :“Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand.”I also believe that the academic process should be rigorous and lifelong."

Research Interests

  • My research interests focus on the examination and management of persons with low back pain. I am specifically interested in the measurement of patient outcome and how patient preferences and values are incorporated into clinical decisions (i.e. outcome measure and intervention selection) regarding the management of their low back pain. My work, on the feasibility of Goal Attainment Scaling for patients with chronic low back pain, serves as a foundation for for my current line of research.
