Global Nursing Experiences
The community health experience offered by Global Partnership and Engagement enables undergraduate students to learn first-hand about international health care while delivering nursing education and services to residents. Students have the opportunity to develop interprofessional health care relationships, explore different cultures, and become globally educated registered nurses.

University of Chester
Join an immersive global nursing clinical experience in collaboration with the University of Chester in Chester, England. Gain hands-on experience working in local community clinics, non-profits alongside experienced professionals. This unique program integrates art, music, and social prescribing into the clinical agenda, offering a holistic approach to healthcare. Enhance your nursing education while learning about the UK healthcare system and exploring the country’s rich history and culture!

Universidad Del Norte (Uninorte)
Join an immersive global nursing study abroad program in Barranquilla, Colombia, in collaboration with Uninorte’s School of Nursing. This unique experience allows you to engage with local community clinics, nonprofits, and neighborhoods that have partnered with Uninorte for years, providing valuable insights into global healthcare practices. Beyond the clinical experience, immerse yourself in Colombia’s rich culture with museum visits, a day trip to Cartagena, and guided tours of historic monuments. This program offers an incredible opportunity to develop a global perspective on nursing, build lasting connections with local professionals, and gain unforgettable life experiences in one of South America’s most vibrant regions!

Global Clinical Opportunities

Upper Division and Accelerated students can complete their Public Health Nursing clinical hours locally or at one of our global sites. These immersive learning experiences offer valuable insights into health care systems, community-based initiatives, and diverse cultural settings.
Students travel with a clinical instructor to participate in activities such as community assessments, clinical observations, hands-on experiences in local health care centers, health promotion education, home visits, environmental health assessments with local health officers, and cultural enrichment activities.

Graduate students can participate in academically relevant and personally enriching global health experiences to fulfill part of their program requirements. Collaborating with international partners, students gain insight into community needs, address health care challenges, and enhance intercultural awareness and sensitivity.
Global Citizens Program
Global Citizens Program (GCP) is a program that creates curricular and co-curricular activities for undergraduate students within the framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The aim is to help students engage with global issues, cultivate their cultural awareness, and promote their global competencies.
Being a global citizen can mean many things, but at the heart of it all is being able to engage meaningfully and effectively with people, places, events, challenges, and opportunities.
Global Citizens Program Requirements

1. Take 4 courses with the GCPC attribute and/or foreign language courses*
a. You must receive a grade of B or higher
b. Many courses are already embedded into your major requirements
*Alternative courses for students in the College of Nursing:
- NUR 3026 Public Centered Care
- NUR 4635 Public Health
- NUR 3066 Health Assessment, Wellness & Prevention Across the Life Span
- NUR 4535 Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
2. Receive the Global Explorer transcript attribute at the end of the semester that you complete and submit your fourth course.
3. Optional: Complete Tier 2 for additional graduation recognition!
Bull Nurses, we strongly encourage you to pursue Tier 2 over the other options to showcase your commitment and stand out at graduation.

1. Complete a study abroad program (1 week minimum) OR
2. Complete two of the following global activities:
a. Bulls Service Break (1 week min.)
c. Community service/volunteer work (45 hours min.)
d. Research (45 hours min.)
e. Internship (45 hours min.)
3. Receive the Global Leader badge, transcript attribute, and graduation recognition at the end of the semester that you complete and submit your global activities.

1. Watch the Start Your Adventure (SYA) video
After submitting the quiz, students will be added to the Canvas course, where they can complete the program at their own pace.
Opportunities for Global Recognition
Global Citizens Award
As part of the University of South Florida’s Global Citizens Project, undergraduate students in the College of Nursing have the opportunity to earn the Global Citizen Award, a distinction that recognizes and rewards their commitment to global engagement. Students can fulfill the award requirements through a combination of academic and experiential activities tailored to their interests. These may include attending on-campus events, completing Global Citizens coursework, studying abroad, participating in community service, conducting undergraduate research, securing internships, or studying a foreign language.
Student Fullbright
Established in 1946, the Fulbright U.S. Student Program is the largest exchange program in the U.S., providing students with opportunities to pursue international graduate study in more than 155 countries. During the grant period, the student meets, works, lives with, and learns from people in the host country. The program facilitates cultural exchange through interaction in the classroom, field, and home, allowing the student to gain an appreciation of others' viewpoints, beliefs, lifestyles, and reasoning.
