This sickle cell trait education website was created by a development team of certified athletic trainers from the University of South Florida. This project was made possible as a result of a grant from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association’s Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee. The USF development team worked in conjunction with the USF Health Information Systems to put together this educational website. The purpose of this website is to disseminate information about sickle cell trait and the athlete in order to prevent injury and/or sudden death of athletes due to exertional sickling or other complications of sickle cell trait.
