Research
A core objective of academic medicine is the pursuit of new knowledge that ultimately benefits individual patients and community health. The Department of Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine at the University of South Florida is fully committed to excellence in scientific discovery, with a strong focus on innovation and leadership in research.
Our scientific studies address a broad range of issues in musculoskeletal medicine - i.e. heat illness, sudden cardiac death in athletes, pediatric sports injuries, biomechanics & injury prevention, surgical repair strategies, and basic biological evaluations of tissue injury and repair. What makes our medical research unique is that we are building on the strength of USF Health's collaboration between medicine, nursing, public health and physical therapy. The result of this multi-disciplinary approach is already bearing fruit in the area of sports safety with the post-professional graduate athletic training program is also involved in various projects pertaining to youth sports injury and other sports medicine related topics.
At the USF Department of Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, our goal is to achieve real impact in the area of musculoskeletal research for our patients, colleagues, students and beyond.
