I was born in Clearwater, FL, but Tampa is my hometown. I went to a small Islamic school before migrating to USF, where I completed my studies through its 7-Year BS/MD program. I majored in Biomedical Sciences but also took classes in piano and history and studied abroad in Osnabrück, Germany. In medical school, I developed interests in narrative medicine and health systems engineering. I have spent most of my life involved in service organizations and look forward to bridging a career in neurology with service in the field. I spend most of my free time with my family. Otherwise, I am running, playing soccer, practicing yoga, journaling, reading books, or playing board games in local coffee shops with friends. I enjoy cooking plant-based recipes with my sisters, traveling, and, most recently, exploring Florida’s coast and wildlife by boat!

On my quest for the “right” residency program, I sought to train among those who were driven by love for the field and passion for service. In USF’s program, I found excellent clinical training, opportunity for a wide breadth and depth of sub-specialty exposure, and the flexibility to pursue individual interests backed by an incredible faculty. Beyond this, my experience with the culture of USF at large over many years and my “inside-scoop” into its neurology residency program as a medical student left me without question that this is where camaraderie and high-quality education are cultivated. I wanted to train where I could bask comfortably in my inner nerdiness, whistle while I work, and get a bear-hug when I need it. I feel truly blessed to spend these next four years as a USF trainee as I make neurology mine.
