Unfortunately, our global health fellowship has been on hold following the COVID-19 pandemic. We expect to reopen applications soon!
Global Health is a growing field in emergency medicine! Residents interested in pursuing global health have the option of using their elective time to gain more experience in global health. Our department is in the process of developing a formal global health track for residents and we recently partnered with USF Internal Medicine to offer a global health fellowship. The fellowship is open to all physicians who are US-board certified (BC) or board eligible (BE) and have completed a residency in internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, pediatrics, or obstetrics/gynecology. USF is working with the Ugandan Viral Research Institute (UVRI) in Entebbe, Uganda and the Entebbe Government Hospital in Entebbe, Uganda to offer this experience. These institutes have a reputation of conducting high-quality basic science research, a strong relationship with their local COMAHS and clinical teaching facilities, and network with the African Academy of Science.
Interested candidates should send a letter of interest and CV to Dr. Enola Okonkwo & Dr. Asa Oxner.
