Monkeypox (MPX) is a rare disease caused by infection with the monkeypox virus. Monkeypox virus is part of the same family of viruses as variola virus, the virus that causes smallpox.
Monkeypox symptoms are similar to smallpox symptoms, but milder, and monkeypox is rarely fatal. Monkeypox is not related to chickenpox. Click here for detailed information regarding symptoms, spread, and prevention.
Vaccination against monkeypox is available at USF Health for high risk populations and people who have been exposed to monkeypox.
USF Health is offering the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines at some of our USF Health clinics. Vaccines are available to everyone aged 6 months and older. Follow the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for further eligibility requirements.

The CDC recommends adults age 60 + may get the RSV vaccine to help prevent lower tract disease caused by RSV. No appointment necessary.
