The USF Office of Educational Affairs has launched its first group of online faculty development materials. Faculty Development Online Training (FACDOT) was developed to provide faculty, residents, and preceptors the ability to learn about topics to help in their teaching and supervision of students. FACDOT currently includes these 6 modules with more to be added in the future:

  • The One Minute Preceptor
  • Integrating Learners into the Busy Practice
  • Dealing with the Difficult Learning Situation
  • Giving Effective Feedback
  • Teaching and Learning Styles
  • Evaluation: Making it Work

If you have an HSCNet ID and password, you can access FACDOT now (if you need an HSCNet account, contact Rimma McKnight). Just go to http://hsc.usf.edu/facdot. There you will find instructions on how to download the free Authorware player used to view the modules. Once you have the Authorware player, you can login and start viewing. Most "chapters" within a module take 5-7 minutes to complete. You don't even have to complete an entire module in one sitting. FACDOT will remember where you left off and take you right back to that spot the next time you log in. It will even keep track of which modules you have completed. Once an entire module is finished, a certificate of completion may be printed.

As a member of the USF Health community, you are welcome to review any and all of these materials. Gaining this knowledge will help you make the experience for our students rewarding and help them to be better prepared to serve their patients and communities as outstanding health professionals. We encourage you to take advantage of the convenience of FACDOT for your faculty development needs.
